Ammonia NH3

The industrial process is called the HABER PROCESS.

Nitrogen and Hydrogen is pumped into a reaction vessel.
The catalyst used is finely divided iron powder and iron oxide powder

N2 + 3H2 ↔ 2NH3

The reaction is exothermic (ΔH < 0) and reversible.
Hence very careful conditions for temperature and pressure must be ensured for optimum and economical yield of ammonia.
These conditions are set in accordance to Le Chatelier's Principle in Chemical Equilibrium.
